I would have previously agreed, but I've seen a few american republican acquaintances pull stunning reversals over the past few years to actually become serious marxists. I get what you're saying but it hasn't been my observation. I don't have anything of particular clarity to say... but it seems to me that workers are foremost workers, and conditions plus empathy can lead to significant changes in outlook even from chuds who's perceptions used to disgust me.

Personally, I hope that is the case, and not "wonk".

It depends on the chud. Materialism rears it's beautiful face again, what led to this person being a chud? Was it a false consciousness against immigrants and minorities that is fed to the working class or are they from owner backgrounds where they draw an actual material gain from maintaining that image? What is motivating their Chuddery?

I would consider the former to count among the disenfranchised, just in a different way. Disenfranchisement contains a lot of subcategories. Hell nazis are disenfranchised, but you gotta recognize the subtleties and reasons why one chud can be moved and not another or you're gonna waste a lot of time.

That's the thing, materialism doesn't care about red team vs blue team political self identification.

It's much more in depth than that.
