wow the liberal anti-communist who cheered for the NATO bombing of yugoslavia, bragged about saying the N word on a big think video, and has always been a false communist supporting neoliberal reforms is a transphobic piece of shit also? who would have guessed?

I've met way too many self-proclaimed socialists that look up to him like an intellectual heavyweight.

Glad he's making it a little easier to dismiss him, I guess?

Wokeness, also known as not contributing to the mass abuse and potential genocide of minority groups. Every day I slowly move further and further into the unironic 'stalin was only wrong by stopping in berlin' camp.

Also it really is wild how the sheer fact of money can allow reactionaries to bend reality around themselves. Its like a whirlpool of insanity and its no wonder all libs are insane, if it weren't for the rock that is marxism I would gave been swept away by this shit long ago.

I didn't read this, but it's reprehensible garbage and Zizek is a piece of shit.

"Woke" means "caring too much about other people." :disgost:

always read zizek from the bottom up:

"So it wasn’t the intrusion of the signal from external reality that awakened the unfortunate father, but the unbearably traumatic character of what he encountered in the dream. Insofar as “dreaming” means fantasizing in order to avoid confronting the Real, the father literally awakened so that he could go on dreaming. The scenario was the following one: When his sleep was disturbed by the smoke, the father quickly constructed a dream which incorporated the disturbing element (smoke-fire) in order to prolong his sleep; however, what he confronted in the dream was a trauma (of his responsibility for the son’s death) much stronger than reality, so he awakened into reality in order to avoid the Real….

And it is exactly the same with much of the ongoing “woke” movement: The woke awaken us—to racism and sexism—precisely to enable us to go on sleeping. They show us certain realities so that we can go on ignoring the true roots and depth of our racial and sexual traumas."

now i dont need to bother with anything else.

"liberalism can recuperate virtue signalling" thanks zizek ur only like a few decades early

ctrl f-ed the trans stuff and its fucking idiotic. "oh well puberty blockers are supposed to give more time for people to decide, BUT THE CONTRADICTION is that it STUNTS growth which can INFLUENCE their DECISIONS!" along with "the trans lobby encourages puberty blockers to young children".

okay dude what's your solution? and if only there were some other solution to profit based healthcare that preys on people with nonstandard health conditions

Not taking them also influences decisions, like that is how a material world works.

I'm fine with whatever alleged consequences come with blockers if the alternative is ceding ground to the right tbh

I have capital V1 but at some point it was just like, yeah, this math holds up and i agree with it but i think i get the gist of things. I'm really more interested in social factors and producing a maximally libertine society (except for the right, who can burn in hell) than economics

            :this:

Learning about human relations and society under capitalism and its alternatives are far more interesting than calculating exactly how much of my labor is stolen

The numbers are important, but i'm assuming there's someone else out there who's better suited to that kind of thing than I am (i.e. as fixated on them as I am on concepts like how the forces that be recuperate counterculture movements )

i stopped at "now in scotland you can just identify as whatever you want." this is where a lifetime of being a contrarian as the base of your analysis with the dumbest veneer of lacanian gibberish gets you sniff

the sad part is there are still a lot of his old works I agree with. honestly thinking about ideaology in a lot of ways prepared for me realizing i was trans

ah well, to the dustbin you go

i still wanna go to slovenia tho

He was talking in a Ted talk I saw years ago about how he showed respect to his black cabdriver friend in NY by calling him the n-word. It had something to do with how causal slurs build trust and intimacy which has some truth for members within a shared in group, not when some Slovenian dumbass gets in your cab.

I would've given him the benefit of the doubt if he was just some random tourist listening to Jay-Z for the first time, but it seems like he's fully aware of the history and its effects on people lol

Using the concept of superego to explain 'wokeness' is actually pretty interesting. Although I wish Zizek explained precisely what he means by the term wokeness.
