    AFAIK the orthodox view is already that the inner core is a solid ball of metal - this doesn't really seem like that big a discovery

    They found that crystallised structure within the inner core’s innermost region is likely different from the outer layer

    I'm sure this matters somehow to somebody, but this doesn't really feel very significant.

      I feel like I remember learning the "theory" that there was another layer, deep in the core, that was probably a big hunk of metal, in high school
