The United States is sounding out close allies about the possibility of imposing new sanctions on China if Beijing provides military support to Russia for its war in Ukraine, according to four U.S. officials and other sources.

EU Suez Canalling itself is a sight to behold. Their population claps like seals for it too with a few exceptions.

It's like at the beginning of covid, when the media found a few self-hating boomers who said they would proudly die to keep the line going up. Only now it's Europeans who will gladly tank their economy so the US can prosper.

    De-dollarization speed run.

Seriously Biden, make the global south choose between the US and China. Give them an excuse to default on IMF loans.

never mind the "import all your shit from" thing, when have sanctions ever worked?

i mean, in the sense they want them to work. they've been successful in immiserating the people of the sanctioned countries (which i guess is the real point of sanctions, since the west is made of ghouls), but has north korea cracked? has cuba cracked? has russia cracked? fuck no. sanctions, like terror bombings, dont fucking work.

I saw a reddit thread on this and it was literally just filled with vibes based analysis

"Fascists will start supporting China if they arm Russia, just like how they only started doing that with Russia last year!!"

":so-true: the global south will welcome these sanctions because they're tired of depending on China!! Never mind the fact that they didn't sanction Russia and condemned the west for fucking up their economies instead of seeking peace with Russia!"

"China is LITERALLY harvesting organs from MUSLIMS, who I really do care about, this time!"

Hey, let's sanction [bad country] for something they might do in an alternate reality.

On the bright side, if the US sanctions itself then maybe it won't be able to wage war in a couple years?

I mean, dumb situation, but misleading title. It does say they're looking to do it "if" Beijing provides military support. They're not claiming that's happened.

They sanctioned Russia before an invasion ever happened. Why would they not do another “preventative” sanction?

Remember, the point is to sanction them, not to actually deter anything. Their words are meaningless,.

Well, seems pointless to criticise the US for something it has yet to do. If I got angry about everything they could do and 'why would they not', then I'd be even angrier indeed.
