"Work with anti-imperialists across the aisle", they said, "chuds now have the morally principled anti-war stance. Trump is the candidate against Amerikan hegemony." How do people even on here keep falling for that shit?
trump is basically gambling with his incompetence and apathy. Better the doofus who doesn't personally care about the imperial project than somebody competent who does... until the next "assassinate Soleimani" shit he pulls actually starts a hot war.
and that's only looking at "foreign policy".
I saw someone on here take that line with Ron DeSantis and it got like
20 something15 upbears before the mods removed it.Hexbears are not immune to propaganda :wonder-who-thats-for:
How tf is that a thing, Meatball Ron is literally a former navy lawyer who oversaw torture at Gitmo and worked with navy seals in fallujah, read: did legal damage mitagation in war crime central.
Yes but he's so awful that he'll cause society to collapse so that MY ideology can rise from the ashes 🙄
:yes-honey-left:
Imagining what spending a trillion dollars domestically would look like
Oh wait that’s China
I’m haunted by their railroad evolution map. The fastest trains in the world and so many rails in just 10 years. Insane
"What'll this buy like two new jets that break when they get rained on?"
Maybe some ammo to replace the expensive shit we made for the Zumbwalt before realizing it couldn't function.
:the-democrat: "Biden's latest military budget doesn't specify a number. Rather it says, 'convert all matter of the universe into a computer and use that computer to exclusively store the amount of money we're giving to the military'."
:the-republican: "Is this a joke to you? That's totally absurd!... not nearly enough!"
“Small Government” republicans want to recreate the Kingdom of Prussia’s army with a state
“A budget that proposes to increase non-defense spending at more than twice the rate of defense is absurd,”
i am going to become the jonker
Is china’s military considered high relative to its income and GDP? Or is the US just insane and spends more than any reasonable proportion
China's military spending as part of GDP is 1.7%. Globally it's not even in the top 50 of GDP percentage; even amongst the top 20 military spenders (of which China is #2 overall) it's not even in the top 10 for spending per GDP. Countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia are spending upwards of 5% of their GDP on the military. The standard NATO "commitment" for military spending is 2%; most nations in NATO don't necessarily follow this but they're "supposed" to. For comparison the United States spends almost double per GDP, at 3.2%. Full list is here.
Google gave an AP article saying China spends 1.7% of GDP, compared to 3.5% from US, but GDP is fucky so that's probably not the whole story. Some page from executivegov.com pegs US defense  spending at 10% of the total federal budget, and "nearly half of the discretionary spending". Couldn't find anything as far as Chinese spending in relation to budget, so I suspect it's an unfavorable comparison for the US
