A U.S. judge has ruled that an online library operated by the nonprofit organization Internet Archive infringed the copyrights of four major U.S. publishers by lending out digitally scanned copies of their books.

    The damages could be significant statutory damages could range between $750 to $150,000 per violation. I think that the additional damages clause might be applied here, so that could triple the damages.

    The IA will probably be driven into bankruptcy.
