Burning the World Gov flag on Enies Lobby was SICK AS FUCK AHHHHHHHHH NOW LETS GO WRECK CP9
Also Robin's back story is crazy good, and I wouldn't mind if Franky became a full time crew member with everyone. I like him a lot.
Luffy is a literal anarchist revolutionary the entire show and he never stops being based. It just keeps getting better.
That arc was sick as fuck.
Also coming up next for you is a bunch of really bad gender stuff and unfortunately that part never really gets better. Sorry to say.
I disagree that Luffy is an anarchist or a revolutionary. His personality and "political views" are deliberately childish (because One Piece is primarily marketed to children), and boil down to "I don't like bad people and am powerful enough to punch them in the face". That simplistic view makes him the hero because One Piece is written in a way that everyone else is an asshole and where a return to the status quo is unambiguously good. Also the whole defending multiple monarchies thing.
Also the whole defending multiple monarchies thing.
Marxists would critically support a monarchy if it was a progressive step under the conditions.
I disagree that Luffy is an anarchist or a revolutionary.
He is absolutely on a journey where he is building up the forces that will fight in revolutionary alliance alongside him through good deeds he's done to make these people his allies. Whether he intended for that to occur or not it is what is happening. He will be thrust into the role of revolutionary.
Well also one piece doesn't really have some sort of understanding of anything real. Cause the author doesn't have a grasp anything beyond a surface level at times. Things are presented in the story which are borrowed from history. But it doesn't arrive at a resolution as to how to resolve the contradictions.
That's like reading nixonland and calling perlstein some revolutionary. Nah perlstein an annoying liberal.
As for one piece, no shit its about setting monarchies up. Cause that's what it is and always was. Its a comic for teens.
Like the other reply said, he isn't some anarchist or revolutionary. Its just that he falls into these situations which pit him deliberately against the ruling class. He doesn't save robin cause he is against the state repression of whistleblowers. Its just personal for him. While all that makes good drama it just does not make him a revolutionary.
I said this about skypeia before where luffy is ringing the bell which has a decent emotional impact. And that's not cause luffy wants to aid wyper and his cause. Luffy doesn't really get what the situation is between shandia and skypeia. Even though the narrative pretty clearly depicts that shandians are pushed from their land to a ghetto. Luffy is there cause he wants to ring the bell and prove that the sky islands are there. He doesn't really have interest to delve into the conflict. He got mixed with the conflict and ends up fighting enel.
Tap for spoiler
Same with him punching the slave owner. Its not cause luffy is john brown. Again there he just does it cause camie was kidnapped and also he doesn't really like slavery as much as the other person. But luffy bites the bullet anyway cause one he is just very angry by that point. Very angry also cause everyone is standing by seeing this just go on as usual. And two he doesn't really get what the ruling class is capable of. Immediately in the aftermath of him punching the slave owner is the separation of crew, cause the WG sent people to wipe these pirates who disrupted the slavery auction.
I don't think he's anarchist. Anarchists wouldn't install monarchies.
He seems far more like a pragmatic socialist that respects sovereignty. All he does is make sure that the people actually got someone that they want and is a good person.
I just put up with 2 persona games back to back so while it might suck to see, I reckon I can power past as long as they throw some based bones in here and there
They will. All the queer and or trans folks are based as fuck even if they're shitty stereotypes
Umm actually the real revolutionary in the show is buggy. He literally has a red nose.
That is possibly the bravest thing
usoppthat sniper ever did without flinching. This was the point the show became a lock for me. I actually found it kinda slow up to this point.
Wild that I got that far tbh but I was being pushed by the promise that it would eventually become something I wanted to finish lol.
My wife and I are a bit past you in the early 400s. Loved the whole CP9 arc.
Hell yeah! My partner isn't much of an anime person so we've been finding mostly small comedic ones for her, but she's been with me on One Piece since the start.
