I've been getting the suspicion that there's alot of great recent anime that I've not noticed in the deluge of trash.

Would appreciate any suggestions as to stuff really worth checking out.

    I'm only (mostly) gonna recommend stuff I watched and really dug, there's a number of great shows I might have missed and a bunch of decent/okay shows out that I did watch too but I'm ignoring those cos otherwise the list will be too long. Also only going back to 2018 bcos any more and I'll feel really old. Also I have huge genre blindspots, so other posters could probably recommend better romance stuff.

    • Kino's Journey (same director as Serial Experiments Lain)

      I was enjoyng 86 but then they put the loli in the second season. It completly messed up the athmosphere.

      Your "Interesting shows that maybe didn't stick the landing" are all things I've watched, but forgot they exist. They all weren't bad, and kind of refreshing. I'd add Urusekai Picnic.

        Yeah, I watched a couple of episodes of other side picnic, but I didn't include it cos I feel let that sonny boy did the same thing but better, more or less

          otherside picnic is really good as a novel but the anime is only soso
