Or how Churchill and Stalin supposedly divided up Europe to control after the war :biden-alert: they make it out as if the USSR was the sole perpetuator of evil alongside Germany, but even then they’ll say that “people feared the soviets more than the nazis” lol
Most of the people complaining about that are regurgitating half remembered anti Communist propaganda they heard elsewhere and probably don't even know about the British and Soviets in Iran
This despite the fact that Generalplan ost called for 85% of all ethnic Lithuanians to be...removed...
Or how the soviets felt abandoned when France and Britain didn't help Spain when fascists took over.
The Nazis actually won WWII and it just took us a while to notice.
Canadian here who just found out about this thru wikipedia anecdotes a few weeks ago. Never got mentioned in public school as far as i remember.
People whine about the Soviet Union recovering Belarus and Ukraine's territory from Poland but never even mention Poland straight up annexing a part of Czechoslovakia when the Nazis took the Sudetenland.
They don't know about it, and media + education is keen to bring up the former.
See, they are technically correct because the nazis feared the soviets more than the nazis, so if you just define "people" as "nazis" - and remember that these are Europeans - it makes sense.
