Oh right. Cause like, if I were to say "the ruling class wants us to eat bugs" I wouldn't think that I'm saying anything conspiracy at all. They do. They've been saying that's what they want quite openly in their media.
Just a bit confused how this can all be like "nah this is wrong actually this never happened".
Seems to me that the negative social reaction among fascists is causing a backtrack... I think the biggest disappointment I have in this is that it's phenomenal propaganda and should have served the left but I understand why a portion of the left didn't jump on it because climate change, food sources and not being opposed to change that would feed people.
im not particularly aware of this actually being true, at least beyond maybe a random interview of someone like Bill Gates having a loose shower thought about food security.
I feel like if I tried to do exhaustive research myself, I'd get 99% of results that say “one random vaguely wealthy person wants bugs added to existing menus” (which is categorically different) therefor it's 1984 big corporate left dystopian conspiracy forced to eat buggos.
I thought it was something about a more sustainable farming model, like cultivating protein via a certain species of bugs might be more efficient than doing it via chickens and cows. Selling bugs (outside of certain cultures) would be pretty hard so it's assumed that the bug protein would be processed into nuggets or something.
Nah "the rich unironically want us to eat bugs" is extremely effective propaganda. People find that shit gross. You can absolutely rile up a fuck load of people with it. Even around here on Hexbear you'll get a tonne of people that find this idea absolutely fucking disgusting and are absolutely against the idea.
Yeah but it's not real. A couple cranks have suggested it as a novelty or for specific situations where it might possibly be useful. There is nothing anyone has said about eating bugs that's actually objectionable (except that :im-vegan: is a better option). And to the vast majority of people it comes across as terminally online conspiracy brained bullshit (because it is) and it's a much better position to mock these people.
