The choices we're provided are bad but generally speaking we have a strong socialist base who will actually vote for socialists if given the opportunity, I would say that it's 35%. The problem is that the Labour party as a vessel is so deeply infested with wreckers that actually getting a socialist leader of the party is an incredibly difficult battle. Then of course you have the issue of needing to purge the libs which Corbyn really SHOULD have done and is the biggest mistake he made. The libs aren't making the same mistake and I suspect it'll be 15-20 years before we succeed in getting a left leader again.
I don't know about you but when it comes to electoralism I'll be voting for Greens over Labour. The fact that a party founded by and for the working class is now led by a knight is beyond a joke. I can't in good conscience vote for Labour after they intentionally sabotaged Corbyn. If they don't respect my beliefs why should I respect them?
I'll decide when the time rolls round but it'll basically be weighed up on what I think is best for the advancement of socialism in the UK. No opportunism. If there's no sense of getting the party back there is no reason to support it. In the meantime I have supported and pushed for an alternative party but while the highly influential people like John still firmly believe that fighting within the party holds the best prospects it's a non-starter. A new party won't happen without the core socialist group all jumping ship and signalling nationwide a new movement.
For me it'll mostly be determined by how socialists and socdems they purge between now and 4 years from now on a slow burn so the general population doesn't notice it. Will be keeping count and stirring for Greens or whoever else when the time comes if needs be. In the meantime Red Fightback are doing what the left really needs to get its stride back -- killing the old communist parties that are out of touch so people unite behind new parties that "get it" when it comes to modern socialist politics that work. Although some of the nurses unions are doing and saying verrrry cool-zone things about striking despite patient dangers right now, much to the dismay of bootlickers around me that don't want to blame the bosses.
