They’re owned by people who bribe the politicians, staffed by people who have had leadership positions in a revolving door of regulatory agencies, get giant chunks of their funding from government grants, and they regularly print government-issued press releases uncritically… but the government considers all of these organizations to be legally distinct, so it’s fine.
WaPo and NYT should get it too (given how much they repeat Stat Dept memos).
