    There's a quote out there that I can't find right now from I believe the civil rights era that says the problem with voting in the USA is that the moment you cast your vote, you lose all your power. Once they've got your vote, you become unable to affect their policies.

    The quote puts it much more elegantly, if anyone knows it I'd love to have it again.

      That's one of the core messages in Malcom X's "The Ballot or the Bullet"

      Don't be throwing out any ballots. A ballot is like a bullet. You don't throw your ballots until you see a target, and if that target is not within your reach, keep your ballot in your pocket.
