dont use tiktok its interface and algorithm are extremely good at destroying your brain regardless of what you're watching, its like the worst and most powerful attention hog program
I've enjoyed it for FoundryVTT macros, but everything else just feels... It's way too frenetic. Like 10 people with ADD are competing for my attention.
It's crazy. The other night I was thinking I was gonna kill 15 minutes and relax by watching a few tiktoks before going to work on a project. Then four hours went by. Tiktok and to a lesser extent Twitter (and Reddit used to be this way for me, but not so much the last couple years) just eat my attention. It's a problem.
Ignore all that and just watch Mexican farming tiktoks, much better use of your time imo

So the thing with tiktok is old or not it's an extremely well crafted attention devouring machine, and i would reccomend against it on those grounds alone.
Tik tok is the only app that successfully convinced me to delete it just through usage alone. Its incredibly effective, its social media perfected.

I don't have a tiktok but I've seen some of James Rehwald's videos (jrehwald15 on tiktok) and they're excellent. Personally I think tiktok is amazing. Yes it has brainrot, but it also has amazing agitprop, protest streams, and communist discussion. There is a reason that the government is scared of it.
Remember to hold down on a video and hit "Not interested" on bad video, and like good video. The algorithm works well but it needs to be trained.
The worst stuff is on Tiktok live. Just ignore it as best you can.
Edit: you can set a timer to limit screen time. You'll want to do that.
