I watched Battleship Potemkin tonight, that movie slaps. Gonna have to seek out more USSR "propaganda" movies if that's the level of filmmaking on display.
It's a standard Western, but it's the (End of the, usually) Russian Civil War, the Native Americans/Mexican Bandits/Ex-Confederates/Cattle Rustlers are White Bandits/Evil Cossacks/Lost Czech or American Imperialists and the Cowboy/Soldier/Sheriff is a single or multinational group of Heroic Soviet Soldiers.
There's usually a lot more comedy that a traditional Western though.
