I've told this story here before but I remember somebody giving a homeless guy shit for busking outside a store. "Get a real job" bullshit. Like dude its free music for everyone, just enjoy it or leave. What an asshole.
Speaking as a piper, good pipers are generally not going to be busking. Weddings and funerals are happening all the time, require very little effort aside from timeliness, and pay like $300 for what is usually 1 or 2 tunes.
Public music is awesome, I miss the city sometimes because a guy on the street jamming out with a sax is so much better than hearing the rumble of cars.
