    The man had a great premise in A Quiet Place -- that everyone needs to be quiet -- and then (because he, rightly apparently, has no confidence in the audience at all, and needed to provide "scary" cues") immediately abandoned this for the most obnoxious non-diagetic sound effects imaginable, ruining the entire aesthetic/thematic conceit of the film, and people still went WILD for it.

    It's not that he can direct whatever he wants, it's that he's an unabashed moron whisperer, who knows the Deadpool-loving hot couch dads want to watch the Mint mobile man riff all by himself in the same ugly suit vest that they wore to their proms 25 years ago.
