Propaganda shit aside. What the fuck is this, man? The original betrayal was simple but the new one is convoluted, takes forever, becomes a John Wick movie, and le roooosia was behind everything!!!

Wtf lol. Can't have the American general Shepard being corrupt on his own like the original, Russia has to be involved now. That is some state department shit. The original is 100 times better because at least the story has nuance and isn't just Russia= bad.

Can't believe I'm defending the story of the original game, in which an American CIA agent shoots up a Russian airport with some Russian terrorists and gets caught, leading to Russia invading the US from the US east coast, because they took out all the US satellites! The Russians need arms dealers in Brazil for some reason, and a nuke is detonated in space, by the US, over Washington DC for reasons. And general Shepard just wants to keep the wars going for money and power, even if his own country is almost destroyed. Like it's absolutely ridiculous, but still way better than the new one.

I still remember how badly battlefield bad company 1 and 2 made fun of those call of duty campaigns, and now those original call of duty campaigns seem like super logical and Oscar winning stories compared to the current ones!

The original also made rounds back in the day for being covert imperialist propaganda lol, it's amazing how much worse it's gotten that the original looks tame in comparison now

Yeah the original made the idea of a "false Flag operation", which the CIA agent and Russian terrorists shooting up the airport was, enter popular consciousness. Which considering the events of 2009 with Sandy Hook, was uhh maybe not the best timing. Led to a bunch of idiots calling Sandy Hook a "false flag" because they heard about it in a video game and Alex Jones was saying it.

The original was obviously propaganda, but at least it was subtle compared to the modern stuff and the "bad Americans" were also at fault on their own terms and get killed. Crazy that the propaganda slop has gotten so bad that we can say this now. Because the original modern warfare 2 story was not subtle at all for the time, it was the most obvious Amerika fuck yeah stuff.

The story makes no sense. An undercover CIA agent dies so the whole shooting is blamed on America. How would anyone know this corpse is an American? They literally say he looks like any other Russian. How would people not see Makarov on the CCTV when he's a well known criminal? How would a mass shooting start a war anyway?

Yeah it makes no sense, but it somehow makes more sense than the new game.

I guess Makarov is in charge of everything and covers it up.

But then in the third game they show that new character that was there the whole time apparently. They shoot him before getting on the elevator that starts the No Russian mission. Did the undercover guy not see that and realize something was up?

The third game makes no sense lore wise, they even rewrite the story of the sniper mission in Chernobyl. It was a mistake.

It was also made by a completely different studio to the first and second games, which explains the disconnect.
