DeSantis feels more like a narrative device for the media than a serious candidate. The news outlets need to work up some drama so that they have something to talk about between now and Trump's coronation. I could be wrong, but I feel like I've seen this movie before.

I think it's more like wish casting. we all know that the most probable outcome of the Republican primary is Trump but media personalities don't wanna accept that Biden wasn't the magic bullet against "Trump-ism" they thought (or in the case of more opportunist people claimed to believe) he would be.

I think it's all of the above, and probably not even that intentionally. Media outlets have the incentive to create horserace narratives, regardless of the underlying reality. They also have preexisting explicit and implicit biases that will slant their coverage to their preferred outcome. And, of course, lots of them are followers who will cover DeSantis for no other reason than response to induced demand. It all adds up to a manufactured DeSantis hype train that will, barring some unforeseen circumstances, chug along until it's clear he isn't going to win, at which point the narrative will shift to Trump vs Biden. Rinse repeat.

It would be hilarious to get Jeb, Bernie, and Hillary on the campaign again this time going after Joe and Trump

Ive seen alot of :LIB:s trying to taunt Trump by saying he's gonna lose to Ron. They're all rooting for Ron to win the primary.

Harm reduction is supporting the party that exerts effort and resources to bolster fascists while slandering progressive liberals and leftists :maybe-later-kiddo:

When Trump is mean on Twitter it turns Libs into sad pandas who won't eat their brunch. This is literally the greatest threat to civilization and if you can't see that, you must be a Russian asset.

Multiparty democracies are inherently more democratic than evil tankie states. Even if the second of the two parties is trying to tear apart democracy openly while the other just shrugs. Sorry, thems the rules :maybe-later-honey:

With typical American extravagance, both parties are tearing apart democracy openly :obama-drone: :mission-accomplished:

Beyond that even, choosing anyone that could actually build a faction to invoke the 21st or get GOP senators to vote yes on removal of Trump from office.

I’d say a “hot woman”, a different insane Evangelical, or someone like Kanye levels of scary that even Dems are scared of impeaching.

They'll kiss and make up as soon as the primary is over. Then DeSantis will become one of his biggest cheerleaders. And it'll be back to business as usual.

He can swap his Governor's seat for Rick Scott's Senate seat and hang out as a statewide office holder indefinitely. Or he can just rally enough fundraisers such that Trump can't ignore him and get a seat in the cabinet, perhaps as Attorney General.
