Right-wingers are oddly obsessed by anything involving kids having fun - cartoon characters, animation, etc.

Seems this level of visceral hatred for normal children activities doesn't fly too well outside of deep red areas though.

We are already seeing backlash from book banning in every state that is trying it.

I'd wager this will play out like the 1980's moral panics over D&D books and metal records being allowed in libraries. Lasted until about the 1988 Olympics and when the news media let up for a month or so, everyone moved on.

All their takes about children and childhood are unhinged.

Kid's tv show host: "Let's talk about how to respect each other. The word 'respect' means..."

Right-wing Facebook post just minutes later: "I'M WATCHING A CHILDREN'S TV SHOW AND THE HOST JUST SAID SHE HATES AMERICA AND HATES JESUS TOO! SOROS-FUNDED COMMUNIST DEMONS MUST BE STOPPED!"

Little Rascals/Our Gang back in the 20's'-40's was banned in some markets because it showed black and white children as equals.
