Not paying Elon musk 8 dollars being a political statement to these people is very confusing to me.

I don't really understand how they think that sounds coherent at all, do they think we all have some secret desire for the blue check and that we have to stop ourselves to prove some kind of point?

They have to see how worthless it is now right?

It's a really weird turn of events

I think of it as anti-woke brain.

For them paying eight bucks is the right thing to do because even though Elon's really, really, really smart - he's got bills to pay. So - from their POV - if you don't give him eight bucks - you're woke and you hate America. That's crazy but I think that's where they are at.

The guy who tweeted George Washington would paid to be verified also tweeted this...

      CW: anti-trans hate

There's a photo of beer in a store fridge.

Plenty of removed semen on the shelf at the local corner store.

I guess they'll be dumping it out or giving it to the homeless because nobody is going to be buying!

Of course - being that he drew attention to himself - people looked at his tweets. It's a week old. In the before times - he would have deleted his account. But he hasn't even deleted that tweet.

        lmao.

Trans comrades, if you ever doubt your attractiveness, just remember there's millions of conservatives lusting after your bodily fluids at any moment.

To be a trans ally you have to drink mass quantities of bud light, or something. I don't know, I've been tied to a chair with a blinding light shining in my eyes and forced to listen to fox news on a tv just outside my peripheral vision for the past 72 hours.

Buying/not buying a product is the ultimate political act, obviously. Consumerism sits at the top of everything. If you don't have a giant pickup/SUV, you are displaying fascist/communist tendancies for everyone to see.

a lot of right-wingers only ever processed the blue check as a reminder of their own unimportance. they're upset because they have it now and still feel unimportant, which confuses and frustrates them

that's why they're all mad about celebrities etc. not buying twitter blue. they're like a guy with a wad of cash after hyperinflation has made the currency worthless, desperately trying to understand why he can't buy a loaf of bread for the same price it was at last week

They're stomping all over the former marker of modern nobility

It's been taken away from people who greatly valued it because of the status it gave them, and now any murgatroid with $8 can have one

It's beautiful actually (am I allowed to say that?)

one of Americas oldest and most well known public figures

Think about it, are we supposed to take out Spiderman and SpongeBob? They don't have any heroes. We have a country in front of us with a large population and a large land mass, but it doesn't have any heroes, all of their heroes are cartoon characters, they're all fictional.

Also, gentrifier lib Elmo is real

America does have "heroes", but they're villains of some kind:

      • Charles Koch
      • The Walton Family
      • Elon Musk
      • Henry Kissinger
      • Donald Trump
      • George Bush

Are those actually national heroes, though? George Washington/ the founding fathers are of that status, but most figures you mention are only important to certain sections of the populace

This is the best list I could come up with while following two rules:

          • Have to be alive
          • Have to be admired by "normal" Americans. (I would personally put Parenti, but I am in the minority with that decision).

So here's the burning question (:elmofire:) -- when an alt-right shitbag inevitably tries to :amerikkka-clap: the cast of Sesame Street, are they going to shoot just the puppets, the puppeteers, or the puppeteers' hands?

Imagine being such a fucking nazi that the (final) solution to fictional characters saying upsetting things is to shoot up the studio and murder the d-slurs there. :frothingfash:

Shocked this dude isn’t concerned that Elmo is 3 and a half, and is posting in violation of Twitter’s age limit policy, let alone that Elmo can’t have a credit card to pay $8 a month.

Anyway, as the parent of a toddler I have seen far too much Sesame Street. I wish to relay this message to my comrades: “Elmo loves you”.

Seems this level of visceral hatred for normal children activities doesn't fly too well outside of deep red areas though.

We are already seeing backlash from book banning in every state that is trying it.

I'd wager this will play out like the 1980's moral panics over D&D books and metal records being allowed in libraries. Lasted until about the 1988 Olympics and when the news media let up for a month or so, everyone moved on.

All their takes about children and childhood are unhinged.

Kid's tv show host: "Let's talk about how to respect each other. The word 'respect' means..."

Right-wing Facebook post just minutes later: "I'M WATCHING A CHILDREN'S TV SHOW AND THE HOST JUST SAID SHE HATES AMERICA AND HATES JESUS TOO! SOROS-FUNDED COMMUNIST DEMONS MUST BE STOPPED!"
