Firstly, all comms are basically dead. Only posts in 2-3 comms get any attention (dunk tank, cth, news) and that’s because they lack any identity of their own and are just discount main.

Secondly, you should read the rules to the comm before you post/comment there.

Thirdly, c/vegan is a a special place. It’s a relic of a bygone era, when Hexbear tried to open its doors to another subreddit it felt was going through tough times (like CTH did). This was VCJ. There was a moment when the Founders of Hexbear thought this place could be more than just for shitposts. It could be a place where all manner of (left-leaning) subreddits that were being threatened could reside peacefully. There was a hope that this would make us into a true force of leftism online (important because the Founders wanted us to do actual activism).

None of that happened. With just the first of such migrations, Hexbear fell into severe disarray. The new arrivals and the old settlers fought bitterly for days until there was a forceful and messy divorce. Most of VCJ left and with them left the dream for a better Hexbear.

People here celebrated, thinking they’d won something, not realising that even if they’d won this battle, all they’d secured was an ever darkening future. Since then, more and more people have left, shuttering entire comms that now lay abandoned without a single post for months.

All who are left just huddle together, stoking the flames of this dying site with dunks and bitter struggle sessions.

VCJ is not the only time HB tried bringing in another leftist community. This happened to multiple other communities when they tried to join. HB users have repeatedly abused and harassed new communities until they gave up and left. VCJ is simply the last community that tried, bc who would try again after that?
