Good vodka. Good welfare state. Once Were Vikings apparently.

But they mostly take orders from Germans and Americans nowadays. Sad!

Where are you paying $49 for Absolut? It's usually half that price for 750 700 ml in my experience.

I think the reformist faction have some good ideas, as far as succdems go, which is why they will never be in power.

That's why Olof Palme had to die, he was too based for a succdem.

Lots of countries levy ruinous sin taxes on alcoholic beverages. What, you thought it was just rural counties in Georgia? LOL

I once emptied a bottle of this shit on stage at a gig we did in Sweden. Our set was like 35 minutes.

    Not a fan.

I'm simple when it comes to spirits, I try a few and then settle for one brand. I'll drink anything socially ofc but will only buy the same for myself. For vodka, I only touch Zoladkowa from Poland; they make two that are worth your time: the traditional one is spiced with herbs (and really good), and the Pure vodka which is what you would expect vodka to be.

Price is also good, ~20$ for half a litre.

Yeah, and it doesn't even have to be expensive!

For rum I buy the diplomatico, from Venezuela. It's expensive (around 50 for a bottle), but it's the best. Rum kinda has that "cheap" image, but I prefer it to whiskey. I like that they get all the flavours in the Diplomatico from the cane sugar and nothing is added in. I used to get the Don Papa from the Philippines (made by an ex-Cointreau executive, so not local, just cheap labour), and they spice it to hell and back so it's not really rum, it's more of a flavoured alcoholic drink.

edit: and by Diplomatico, since they have several, I mean the Reserva Exclusiva that comes in a dark green bottle!

That sounds tasty. Also cool that it’s from Venezuela.

It would be kinda cool to collect booze from socialist countries and put a print of the anti drinking “Nyet” poster near it lol.

Edit: finding a way to get some North Korean Soju would be lit too.

It's a very sweet rum, almost tastes spiced in fact, but it's not. Very good rum tbh, I can't imagine buying anything else.

Although I have to correct you that Venezuela is not socialist, but social-democrat! Still, we stan Chavez for the pure cojones on that man

I have faith that they’re working on it. I may be biased though because you said, the sheer courage of it. Daring to stand upright in the shadow of the imperial core.

Oh yeah, Diplomatico is great. Even if money's tight, you can get lots of decent rum on a budget. Appleton and even Havana Club are usually what people think of but Plantation Grande Reserve Five Year is my go-to.

I got a 7 year old Havana Club and I'm sorry, I love you Cuba, but it's bad 🤮

almost as expensive as the Diplomatico too for this bottle. Since it's the only brand Cuba sells under, there's many different names like the Especial, Seleccion, so maybe I need to try another one but... for the price I paid I'm not sure I want to repeat the experience.

Yeah, Havana 7 is not a great sipper but it's something if you're a broke-ass Midwest student who didn't want to touch spiced rums with a 12 ft pole like I was (Captain Morgan was my first experience with rum and turned me off of rum entirely for a year lol).

For Cuban rums, aside from the premium Havana Club stuff, there's also Santiago de Cuba which I've been meaning to try.

What's that Polish rectified spirit? That and Everclear are nice and compact for sneaking into pubs I bet

Actually the name “Sweden” is imperialist, it should be called Russia because of the ruotsi people, the other name is just svealander imperialism

Fris costs like 20 bucks and the difference is barely noticeable. Danish instead though, so maybe the extra racism in the water is why it tastes harsher.

Running vodka through a Brita filter several times makes it smoother

Can't get Russian Standard here anymore. Can get Stolichnaya because it's Latvian but I just got this because it's what they had
