    the unrealistic sweetness and kindness of all of those downtrodden white folk. I've never been around people who act like that

      I had opinions kinda like this when I was a no-class-understanding-having-ass teen living in "the south." The quotes are there because while I was indeed within the borders of an impoverished red state, I was technically living in the wealthier liberal bastion at the center. Southerners were, from my perspective, all suburban HVAC guys and their insufferable wives whose "southern hospitality" was to glare at me across the rooms of their McMansions when they discovered I didn't go to church.

      Sad that this woman made it to adulthood still holding onto a child's understanding of these things
