I have strong feelings about this and i'm not sure how to express them. The hypocrisy and crocodile tears and stupidity and bad faith needed to condemn an almost 50 year old concept album, arguably one of the most powerful anti-Fascist works of music in English in the post war period, while Israel is now ruled by a coalition of actual literal fascists, is breathtaking. Astonishing.
Never mind crying because god forbid a Palestinian be considered equally human with Anne Frank. "Distorting the image of the holocaust" jfc these people are re-writng history.
We now have :ukkk: MPs writing to parliament asking to ban Waters from playing in Manchester on the basis of these ludicrous and cynical distortions too which is, well, not even a sixth most evil and inane that's happened today but still...
It really is and worse is the fact that it's been so successful and omnipresent that I'm almost completely numb to it now. I see it, I recognise it, and some small piece of my despair at it gets a shade darker deep down, but it's also just so much the background noise of life at this point.

The weaponization of anti-semitism to crush dissent in the most callow, shameless way is incredibly upsetting.

It just shows how desperate the defenders of apartheid are. They will use anything, do anything to destroy anyone that dares to question them
