:antelope-popcorn:
I have strong feelings about this and i'm not sure how to express them. The hypocrisy and crocodile tears and stupidity and bad faith needed to condemn an almost 50 year old concept album, arguably one of the most powerful anti-Fascist works of music in English in the post war period, while Israel is now ruled by a coalition of actual literal fascists, is breathtaking. Astonishing.
Never mind crying because god forbid a Palestinian be considered equally human with Anne Frank. "Distorting the image of the holocaust" jfc these people are re-writng history.
We now have :ukkk: MPs writing to parliament asking to ban Waters from playing in Manchester on the basis of these ludicrous and cynical distortions too which is, well, not even a sixth most evil and inane that's happened today but still...
The weaponization of anti-semitism to crush dissent in the most callow, shameless way is incredibly upsetting.
It really is and worse is the fact that it's been so successful and omnipresent that I'm almost completely numb to it now. I see it, I recognise it, and some small piece of my despair at it gets a shade darker deep down, but it's also just so much the background noise of life at this point.
It just shows how desperate the defenders of apartheid are. They will use anything, do anything to destroy anyone that dares to question them
I for one think we need to investigate Cristoph Waltz for that SS uniform he wore back in 2008
I mean obvs (but going on Tucker Carlson isn’t helping his case to anyone and also :whywhywhywhywhy: would you consider the US’s Kantano Habimana equivalent as a good person to get your message out at all)
Hah, I didn't even catch that article being on the same page. Can't say I like the idea, but since it's happening I'm looking forward to reading some more breathless indignation from liberals
Aaand dreading the fact that any missteps by Waters in that interview may offer opportunities for Carlson to conflate anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism from the direction of "let's be both"
