Based, Saturn is great.
Saturn emulation is also great these days :meow-bounce:
Not on Android, sadly. I tried to run Grandia and had a ton of issues with every retroarch core except Beetle Saturn on OpenGL. And it just barely runs fullspeed at the beginning of the game (anything beyond super simple CRT shaders tanks performance). YabaSanshiro and Yabause were completely fucked with errors, freezing, or refusing to boot at all.
Hmm. I haven't played it in a couple years but I remember my trusty Nvidia Shield STB handling Yabause pretty well. Is it a lower end Android?
The issue was bad rendering and audio errors due to inaccurate emulation. It has an SD 8 Gen 1 so it's not weak (it can run Beetle Saturn, after all). Yabause and YabaSanshiro are unfortunately just really jank and full of bugs if you try to play anything too obscure.
can’t easily be erased from existence when feels like it
Doesn't stop Nintendo from trying.
The nostalgia thing is horseshit, there are so many old games I've played for the first time on emulators and loved without any nostalgia.
Genuinely the hardest SHMUP I've ever played, I just cannot keep the guns leveled up and the later bosses kill the hell out of me before timeout
They need to pick up :libertarian-approaching: again since nintendo refuses to do anything good with him anymore
I wish considering we got R-Type Final 2, Andro Dunos 2 and Sol Cresta. The market for shmup sequels is clearly booming!
A friend and I beat this after getting fed up and enabling the invincibility on my action replay.
MEDNAFEN works pretty well these days, although the user interface is pretty much...nonexistent.
Saturn kicks ass, the only problem being that so little of the library is localized. At least there's been a steady trickle on fan translations.
I own a gen 1 and 2 with the latter chipped for ripped CDs. I got it in my early twenties when I clocked in to Walmart and ditched to a nearby game store. I talked to the guy at the counter and we talked for a bit. I brought up that I'd love to own a Saturn so he runs to the back and pulls one out with controller and Tekken. I was :fry: :shut-up-take-my-money: meme. One of my fondest memories.
