        Don't forget that Trump has also, in whatever small way, poked fun at Musk in the past and someone with as provably fragile of an ego as Musk probably sees that as enough of a reason to back a particular candidate.

        He isn't a rational actor in the slightest and whatever the most reactionary slight against him is probably the correct analysis of why he does any given thing.

        I find it hard to believe that Trump wouldn't govern just as harshly against trans people, Trump just isn't governing right now lol. But it would make sense that Musk would want the guy with the most proven track record, so that is a more likely explanation actually

            I think this is mostly true but I definitely wouldn't put it past Trump to randomly go as far if not farther than DeSantis has in Florida. Trump more or less spontaneously had Soleimani assassinated, really almost everything that happened in his admin was more or less random because he was way too coked up to focus on any project for more than a week.
