They drove the Bluesmobile across the bridge, forcing the peacefully and legally assembled Illinois Nazi Party to jump into Lake Michigan. They never considered stopping to calmly debate them and perhaps convince them to stop being Nazis. This makes them intolerant bigots - practically fascists themselves :angery:

The context was that the ACLU had defended, in court, the rights of actual Nazis to march through a Jewish neighborhood. For free. Yes, this really happened.

The judge sided with the ACLU and the Nazis (though I repeat myself).

That's why the cop disgustedly said something about "they won their court case" when talking to Jake.

Thanks for the context, I never knew this.

Most unrealistic scene in the movie is when a cop expresses a distaste for Nazism.

In a movie with 50-car pileups? And literal divine intervention? And a magical flying car?

        Yes you're right.

Every time lately that the ACLU is like blah blah blah we're fighting for this right or that right all I can think is that the resurgence of the Nazis is literally, at least in part, their fault. They could have just done fucking nothing.

But they won't touch gun rights, because they have principles.

That's ironic to me considering much Bush supporters :frothingfash:'d in the early 2000s about the ACLU.
