      People would always ask why I am single. I try to explain but get similar responses...

      "Using race as an excuse... Pathetic!"

      The responses mostly came from white fellows. They had never experienced how it felt to be a "minority".

      I think it really depends on where they live

      I've only lived in extremely diverse liberal cities so I've had the exact same observation as you but I couldn't even imagine growing up in cities 80+% white as a minority
