Perhaps (I haven't seen it yet) but I need to deliver the obligatory "sketch comedy is inherently hit or miss"

I think the best sketches are the ones where you can't tell who the straight man is at the end.

For example the mime one from this season where the guy doesn't want to talk starts out as a silly guy doing a silent performance but ends with the audience screaming and going nuts asking him what he's doing because they know he can't resist telling them

The dog door one from this season is one of my personal favourites from all 3 seasons tho

Have you watched it multiple times yet? I Think You Should Leave is the rare comedy that near requires it.

I'm most of the way through the season and I would have to agree. It's still very enjoyable, but it feels safer than the previous seasons. In season one and two it felt like Tim Robinson was really swinging for the fences, and being rewarded for it. This season it's like he's just trying to get on base. He succeeds in doing so, but the impact isn't quite there.

My theory: Robinson has said that a number of ITYSL sketches came from stuff that was rejected by SNL, so he started with a strong backlog of concepts and even written material, and he had a fair bit of time to let it all roll around in his head. It might be that he's already put the best of that stuff into the show, and now we're seeing more fresh material based on the tone and direction of the previous seasons, and it's not quite as thoroughly developed.

I still got a kick out of it. The whole ponytail guy sketch was wild. I thought it was hysterical when the guy across the street puts his hand in the dog poop and Will Forte laughs triumphantly, despite still being stuck under the car. I'll have to finish the season and give it a second pass, it deserves that much.

I disagree it's a much funnier idea if he really doesn't know how to drive because why would he be driving

Yeah but he grabs it so hard it hurts his hands, would a person that knows how to drive do that?

I think any third season was going to be a let down just for being a third season. It doesn't have the novelty of Season 1, and the team proved it wasn't a flash in the pan with Season 2, so what can Season 3 really do to surprise us without being a total diversion from what makes it good?

I think there were some slappers still. Metaloid Maniac and Proposal Park are great (ty papa richardson), night club doctor was fun

itysl is one of those shows were you will see a really funny clip posted on social media, and then you go look up the full sketch on youtube, and every additional line of dialogue that was cut for the tiktok is unfunny and drawn out.

Counterpoint, an article I read talking about the egg game introduced me to “I’m Married to Betty Boop”

Edit: it’s actually just called “Mr. Boop”
