The fact that only 50% of the Republican candidates so far are white is pretty telling. They know that their voterbase is literally dying and are desperately trying to pivot.
Before you ask, Nikki Hayley's parents are from India.
All those people besides maybe Ron, who is a bit deluded, are only there to get something ranging from book sales, to a political appointment, to the VP slot, to "what if Trump is murdered by his next cheeseburger" which is probably not going to happen but some of these people are jumping HARD at the like, honestly 25% chance it happens.

I don't know about that. Elder and Ramaswamy are purely in it for the Grift. Scott is at the end of his political career and ready to move to the private sector, so this is more of an audition for a job in corporate. Haley is the sacrificial lamb of the Moderate Republicans, convinced she has a chance of saving the party from itself. Meanwhile, Hutchinson and Pence are running purely to out Evangelical one another, likely also for the Grift, but also because they're dipshits who think God gives them special powers.
Only Trump and Ron are serious contenders. Everyone else is operating on ulterior motives or delusions of grandeur.

It won't work. If those 8 people make it to the debates - Trump will eviscerate nearly all of them on stage.
On Pence: "Many people are saying it would be better if he was dead."
On DeSantis: "Why vote for a meatball?"
On Asa Hutchinson: "Who is this guy? Does anybody know? I dunno. "
On Nikki Haley: "Sorry - but she's an Indian. Not an Indian-Indian but an Indian from you-know."
On Vivek: "Another Indian. Can anybody even pronounce his last name? It's not like Haley. Where is he from really?"
On Larry Elder: "Not good genes."
On Tim Scott: "Another not good genes guy. And why is he single? Is he still a virgin? Or does he like... you-know."
