joe's never been a serious candidate, and that's the kind of vibe he's been bringing to the white house. even if he wins again, it won't be because he's a serious candidate.

If serious means plausible to win in this shitty imperial system, he was and is serious

i'm just saying that biden hasn't gotten better at running for president over time, and he's a born loser at doing it. he doesn't gaffe less, and he certainly appeared to be sharper in the 80's.

Since I'm a liberal, I only understand looking at things via representation and from where I'm standing it looks like the Republican party is for me

I cannot in good conscience support anything that hurts working people.

This is... kinda brilliant and would probably be the only way I want him to approach the presidency again.

Trump redefined the Republican platform because he was perceived as for average working class Americans (within the chud framing). Bernie stealing the thunder by being a lightning rod for Republican union workers is... an avenue for at least some positive changes.

Yeah, he wouldn't stand a chance, but the opportunities to agitate would be immense. Fox News wouldn't be able to resist.

Him changing the cultural politics of the party by just raw material conditions would be :chefs-kiss:. Imagine the total meltdown capitalists would have if he by some miracle got the nom inside the Republican party. The Democrats would be scrambling to crush any leftism inside their party and shore up conservative voters. It wouldn't be enough. The Democrats would have to go mask off, and still lose.

If Bernie ever got the nom under any circumstance I would assume he would win. But even if he did, his problem would be inside coup attempts and assassination. In the end though, he just was never mean enough, or driven enough to do anything ballsy like running as a Republican. Let alone using his position to seize power for the left. He would have to essentially kill his rivals once in power and he wouldn't do it.

It's crazy how much trump cleared the field of the usual suspects in a Republican presidential primary. No Scott Walker, no Ted Cruz, no Jeb Bush. Like, I still can't believe how big of an impact he actually had on the Republican party.

So the strategy is obviously for them all to pile on and attack Trump instead of going at each other like last time, but my money is that plan fails due to the ego on all of them. All Trump has to do is gnaw at the sore spots that naturally exist between one or two of them and it's in the bag.

The fact that only 50% of the Republican candidates so far are white is pretty telling. They know that their voterbase is literally dying and are desperately trying to pivot.

Before you ask, Nikki Hayley's parents are from India.

It won't work. If those 8 people make it to the debates - Trump will eviscerate nearly all of them on stage.

On Pence: "Many people are saying it would be better if he was dead."

On DeSantis: "Why vote for a meatball?"

On Asa Hutchinson: "Who is this guy? Does anybody know? I dunno. "

On Nikki Haley: "Sorry - but she's an Indian. Not an Indian-Indian but an Indian from you-know."

On Vivek: "Another Indian. Can anybody even pronounce his last name? It's not like Haley. Where is he from really?"

On Larry Elder: "Not good genes."

On Tim Scott: "Another not good genes guy. And why is he single? Is he still a virgin? Or does he like... you-know."

All those people besides maybe Ron, who is a bit deluded, are only there to get something ranging from book sales, to a political appointment, to the VP slot, to "what if Trump is murdered by his next cheeseburger" which is probably not going to happen but some of these people are jumping HARD at the like, honestly 25% chance it happens.

I don't know about that. Elder and Ramaswamy are purely in it for the Grift. Scott is at the end of his political career and ready to move to the private sector, so this is more of an audition for a job in corporate. Haley is the sacrificial lamb of the Moderate Republicans, convinced she has a chance of saving the party from itself. Meanwhile, Hutchinson and Pence are running purely to out Evangelical one another, likely also for the Grift, but also because they're dipshits who think God gives them special powers.

Only Trump and Ron are serious contenders. Everyone else is operating on ulterior motives or delusions of grandeur.
