"box breathing" (4 seconds in, 4 seconds hold, 4 seconds out, 4 seconds hold) supposedly activates the parasympathetic nervous system and moves us physiologically out of the "fight or flight" mode. i use it sometimes. i like that it's a thing i can do without drawing attention and that it works fast. it doesn't fix problems, but can limit the damage these problems do to our bodies in the short term.
and gives space for the gentle mind to return and imagine mindfully choking the life out of one's boss in a spiritually centered way.
