The supreme court determines if things are legal within the scope of our constitution and its justices have lifetime appointments. This means they can strike down any law, executive action, or precedent and interpret what any legislation means which includes our rights (free speech, guns, abortion, etc.) Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a ghoul but she believed abortion should be legal and she was the first "liberal" woman on the bench so libs fetishized her. Now Trump will have appointed 3 of the 9 and there will be 5 or 6 firmly "conservative" justices in there. RBG has had cancer since 1999 and multiple cancers for over a decade, but rather than retiring when Obama could have replaced her with a younger, healthier person she held on till now.
