I'd like to propose a process called, "steal the news" whereby each off us refrain from linking to news sites of any msm type. Rather we would each of us ourselves operate as micro news agencies. This isn't to say that we would not source our posted content from news sources, but we wouldn't cite them in any way shape or form. It would be an act of defiance against the MSM... Call it "no link's news" or "steal the news" whatever. It would be us coopting the man. Of course this only goes for MSM not other sites. And it's perfectly legal because at the end off the day no one can work sadist you for doing this. not illegal on any level..

Example: https://hexbear.net/post/272756

Edit: a couple more thoughts

I think this could possibly work. Never know unless you try. Sources would need to be mentioned, which is pretty simple to do without crediting the media involved. And in fact, so often we are seeing media simply steal its content from other sources, so in some ways this would ensure the original source is mentioned in a transparent manner. Another thought is that so much of what we see in the news is padding and fluff, so that reporters can meet their word count requirements. This approach would encourage summaries that are concise, and clear, getting rid of all the fluff. Also, there is quite a bit of bias in many news sources, for example, deference to authority, etc. This would encourage that be questioned as much as possible. Lastly, I get that c/news isn't the place for these posts, but perhaps they could find a home in other communities. At the end of the day it's just an idea, one that may or may not have merit, depending on the circumstances. Ideas are worth trying.

Paraphrase it in a way that removes biased language and other issues

That's not news then. That's your opinion.

Look, it's bad enough that when I'm reading a news story that I have to keep in mind that whatever actually happened, has passed through a ton of assholes and shitheads to even get published in some corporate media dumpster fire, and now you're going to put your take on top without giving me the original article?

Like, what do you add to this process? Why do I care what you think?
