I'd like to propose a process called, "steal the news" whereby each off us refrain from linking to news sites of any msm type. Rather we would each of us ourselves operate as micro news agencies. This isn't to say that we would not source our posted content from news sources, but we wouldn't cite them in any way shape or form. It would be an act of defiance against the MSM... Call it "no link's news" or "steal the news" whatever. It would be us coopting the man. Of course this only goes for MSM not other sites. And it's perfectly legal because at the end off the day no one can work sadist you for doing this. not illegal on any level..

Edit: a couple more thoughts

I think this could possibly work. Never know unless you try. Sources would need to be mentioned, which is pretty simple to do without crediting the media involved. And in fact, so often we are seeing media simply steal its content from other sources, so in some ways this would ensure the original source is mentioned in a transparent manner. Another thought is that so much of what we see in the news is padding and fluff, so that reporters can meet their word count requirements. This approach would encourage summaries that are concise, and clear, getting rid of all the fluff. Also, there is quite a bit of bias in many news sources, for example, deference to authority, etc. This would encourage that be questioned as much as possible. Lastly, I get that c/news isn't the place for these posts, but perhaps they could find a home in other communities. At the end of the day it's just an idea, one that may or may not have merit, depending on the circumstances. Ideas are worth trying.

    Just use archive.ph (aka .is aka .md) on news articles; that way they won't get traffic on the page, and as a bonus it strips away paywalls.

    Is this a bit? People mostly use internet archive for links. Why would we care about "defying" the the media?

    "It would be us coopting the man" this is a bit, right?

      Paraphrase it in a way that removes biased language and other issues. I did a little experiment with it this afternoon and no one noticed that it wasn't sourced it if they did they didn't care... 4⁴s}o{

    Removing links is good - but removing the source isn't. It's important to know where info is coming from to know how to read it.

    I don’t think I understand. You want to state the news but not cite it. But then how will people learn more? Check if you’re actually right? Follow the case for future developments? And even if we trust each other on this site to not spread misinformation, that will definitely not fly in the broader circles we are in.

      It would involve more trust, yes. But it would also let use avoid crediting the MSM is what I was thinking ..

    Interesting idea, 17 day old account. Unfortunately, it's dumb as shit and achieves nothing. Further, trying to make us not even talk about msm seems like an attempt to remove ourselves from the general population and have our views both become and seem more outlandish. In short, :fedposting:.
