Listen, nerds. Make your own treats: beer, bbq, ice cream, weird coffee drinks, all of it. It'll piss everyone off even more. And you'll save a buck or two.

While I agree I'm also a hypocrite. My 8-5 drains me so much I don't have the energy to do those things. I used to make my own bread on weekends and esoteric drinks but I don't have any motivation when I'm home anymore and it suuuuucks

I was just reflecting last night on the fact that my 8-5 (or 6…) work leaves me so fried at the end of the day that I never cook or engage with my hobbies any more. I usually just microwave a meal and engage in some kind of media escapism.

I recently got a deal on a food dehydrator and have been making various types of fruit leathers and am starting to experiment with vegan jerkies. It's going pretty okay!

How dare you not participate in the market. This is how the terrorists win.

No idea what beyond or impossible stuff is made of, but if you add the spices and stuff it comes out pretty good. Textured protein makes really yummy vegan jerky curls though!

Lately I've been making cold brew at home instead of getting starbucks and it's been chill :cool-bean:

Best part about cold brewing is that you can choose cheaper coffee without impacting the taste too much. I stopped drinking cold brew when I realized it was giving me an irregular heartbeat

reading the second sentence after the first :scared:

I've learned that I need to be careful with cold brew too, because when it compounds with my adhd meds I can get pretty anxious and feel a wicked tension in my chest... I'm sure you know, oof. Though I'm curious to try it with cheaper coffee to see if I notice a difference in taste

I’m no connoisseur and I’m sure bad coffee is bad coffee but cold brewing reduces the actual or perceived acidity in the flavor.

The long brewing time means the water soluble caffeine has a more complete extraction. I have a bit of an extra caffeine sensitivity though.
