Im gonna focus on the "dont start with the numbers". Thats bullshit. The economic relationship is changing and trying to sell it as a social change only serves to fuck over the kid. Like most kids will have no insight into the state of their parents finances, whereas the parents will generally know how their kid is doing. If youre really struggling and need your kids help just show them the numbers.
