There is a very off scene from Cortez's character where it is implied that he looked up under her skirt, and that makes no sense, since, iirc, he had many female allies and never does that shit again.

Yeah, the joke is that she's supposed to be an awkward teen and paranormal geek who's massively overcompensating with her outrageous Hot Topic fashion and it feels like it's riffing on 2000s media and trends

I mean, it just goes to show that like 90% of male creatives want to make female characters that they empathize with...and also want to fuck. Because that's culturally difficult to disentangle for people I guess. They can imagine making a vulnerable female character by this time, but apparently can't imagine her not being a sex object. Because as you say, uh what exactly was the empowerment of modeling a character in that detail?

In multiplayer there's a selection of 150 characters you can pick from, and every character does a voice line when you select them, and they have a short text description that says something about them. For almost every single female character you select, there's an in-your-face sexual innuendo or joke about them being a woman
