Lmao. The admins have resorted to trying mod coups in any subreddit that stays private. I followed the example of r/copypasta and now r/modernart only features a PIGPOOPBALLS post where approved users may comment on the pig, the poop, or the balls. It's NSFW because there are balls present. Other subreddits are now only featuring John Oliver posts or better yet accepting Spez's user democracy by letting users vote for entirely new rules every week and torpedoing all of the structure of the subreddit they built up over years.

The era of malicious compliance has begun and I'm here for it.

I don't think it will be directly effective at all, but it's chaotic and forces the admins to respond to a more nuanced protest that meets their stated criteria. The more ways a crackdown is encouraged and the more users develop a culture of mass participation against reddit the more it stands to hurt the website. joker-troll

It's a better strategy than blackouts. This destroys value and creates additional work for the admin team and any scab moderations they bring aboard.

Is it better enough to start actually getting results? Eh... probably not. If a lot of big subreddits did this for a month, it'd probably work. I don't think they have that kind of organization and determination though.

Holy shit, in a wild lemmy bug this suddenly became the "CHINA IS GONNA BE THE LEMMY WEDGE ISSUE" post. No interaction on my part, I swear. Wild. Refresh and good as new.

Yeah that's a known issue that'll get fixed soon

That's pretty funny lol, torpedoing the ad revenue. Also the API won't be able to access NSFW posts next month too.

But redditors need to come up with better titles for their posts man. They are just so corny. Example of one I saw:

🤓 "It's interesting as fuck that she can swallow the whole thing" 🤓

    come on lol

I do love that someone above you pointed out that the only post which isn't porn is daring Mr. China to kill them for daring to post Tienanmen Square. Reddit.jpg.
