United Fruit Company de facto owned several South American/Caribbean countries to produce fruit and export them to the U.S., mainly bananas. This resulted in a lot of massacres by essentially corporate colonial soldiers whenever workers demanded reform no matter how milquetoast. The best part? The founder of the CIA and his brother had stakes in the company and were involved in the decisions to respond to mass unrest.
It's also probably still going on, like there was a documentary called blood bullets and bananas or some shit like that saying they were still funding Colombian death squads up through the second Bush presidency, i doubt Obama stopped it
