Socialism is when the government does stuff, and the more stuff it does the more socialist it is. And if it does a whole lot of stuff, that’s communism.

Not to counter you or this post because you're right and all that, but in general I do think the leftist retort to posts like this (usually the less-dumb ones) where liberals describe a country as socialist with broadly positive aspects and the leftist responds with 'no' makes it sound like socialism wouldn't want people to be happy, free postage, free healthcare, etc. Just saying "socialism is when the workers own the means of production" both means literally almost-nothing to the average worker because that almost never exists in our economies and doesn't describe the downstream effects of that which would be publicly and democratically operated social programs that all workers would be entitled to.
