    pretty unhinged

but there is a problem with this actually. the US' lack of consistent grade separation combined with the current obsession with miles long trains creates certain areas where incredibly long waits at level crossings are guaranteed to happen, and frequently, and if you happened to live in one of those areas it is maddening, whether in a car or not.

        I mean it depends. if it's 5 minutes sure, but if it's 20? 30?

there are situations where you have trains that are so long they actually have to regularly come to a complete stop while still blocking a crossing, and then you can have say, kids trying to get to school, or anyone on foot really, sneaking between the rail cars and shit which is super dangerous. Its not always that bad but there are areas where it's way worse to the point where its not acceptable

Whenever I get stopped by a train I throw ninja stars at the roof of my car and yell obscenities in Klingon

Only a p'taq would design a level crossing! This lack of grade separation proves that your house is without honor.

If I'm lucky enough to be stopped by a train I sit back and enjoy watching it go by, I love trains train-chad
