In Milwaukee the sky is fucking green from all the smog and shit. When went there it was hard to breathe. I couldnt imagine going to New York.

I watched Benton county in Minnesota slide from a slightly blue rural county that is now a bright red shithole full of suburbanites. It's frustrating how America can be so vast but the same problems affect every community yet no one understands why.
I grew up out in the sticks, not quite as isolated as some people but I lived in the regional center of 5000 people, and the closest cities were all about 2 hours away. There was never even a hint of progressive thought or attitudes, even now the place feels like it's stuck decades in the past. I've stopped even trying to understand those people. They consistently get fucked over by the conservative government they keep electing, services are non existent, there's no family doctors, the hospital can barely run and they have to send you into the city for even basic diagnostic tests, yet in the same breath that they're (rightfully) complaining about the dismal state of our healthcare system they'll launch into a tiarade against the evil communist centrist party (who were in power for 4 years a few years ago after decades of uninterrupted conservative rule) ruining everything and getting rid of all the jobs. I want to feel bad for them but they're the ones that keep shooting themselves in the foot and blaming literally anyone else.
