It literally crackles, squeezes, then pops, then keeps crackling and squeezing. We are high and they are FUCKING WITH US

Processed foods are packaged in the crackliest wrappers possible to encourage a pavlovian salivation response in consoomers. Except sun chips that was too far

It's wild that all the way back in 2008 they experimented with a biodegradable bag and it was so loud that people complained until they went back to the normal bag. I wonder what would happen today with a fairly sizable uptick in green initiatives.

I wonder if it was actually the crinkle or of they just realized the plastic packaging was cheaper and would make them more money.

It's possible, but then why would they have done it in the first place? My theory is that someone found a cost effective way to switch to biodegradable and was convinced that the goodwill from being "green" would outweigh any extra expenses. When that goodwill turned on them they went back to the norm.

I know we're all pretty jaded here, but there are good people working for these evil companies, and sometimes they can actually make change happen. In the end capitalism will stamp it out, but I like to think people are trying. Not that these changes could ever amount to anything substantial, just that I like believing people can have good intentions.

Remember when they tried to make biodegradable chip bags? They were several times louder than regular chip bags.

My theory: it's a combination of cheapest materials and a dubious loss prevention strategy

I'm pretty sure they design them to make the sound because apparently a sizable portion of the population gets upset if it doesn't sound like your strangling a aluminum foil golem to death everytime you're trying to grab a tato chip

it is designed specifically in a way that makes it cracle and pop but that's more a consequence of being cheap than artistic intent
