The US doesn't even have liberal democracy, the person with the most votes can lose an election relatively easily, it has no parliament, the courts are inherently political in their appointments at the highest level. The US is a republic with democracy taking a backseat to capital at all times.

According to most European standards, the US also doesn't have actual parties.

Seriously, like actual political parties have mechanisms to discipline their members and hold them to a party line. That’s the whole point is to have them vote as a block.

They also have mechanisms to let the members decide on that party line, and on who runs the party. A body operating like the DNC would be flat-out illegal in a lot of other bourgeois states.
