I live in a pretty hot state, we can keep the house in the seventies even on 100+ days just by opening the windows at night to get the cool air and closing them before sunrise.
I think there are thermostats that you can program to do this automatically too. Cab probably set sone sort or curves that way your hone warms up/cools off but at a rate where it's mostly imperceptable
They already kind of work like this, just the electrical company that does it.
