You can use a spray bottles with very soapy sudsy water - if you get the bubbly suds on their bellies it apparently prevents them from breathing.

Bag a bug doesn't hurt them, the hormones attract them, then they fall into the bag and don't bother to fly out.
Also leave it up until you don't get any for a year, since they emerge from the grass.
