There's almost 0 state efforts to preserve the cultural identities of immigrants of any kind

When people celebrate "diversity" in the West, it's just eating shawarma, drinking boba, watching Anime, listening to kpop, and eating at an Ethiopian restaurant. Pure commodification and consumerism masquerading as celebration and promotion of foreign cultures

Or you'll have people fetishizing about spicy latinas, lightskins, and Asians like they're fucking Pokemon cards

The US is the place that cultures die. Its a place where languages die, where religions die, where ethnicities die. It is where God is Satan vegan-seitan

This is what craKKKers don't understand when they ask "why can't we have White pride"? White isn't a culture. English, German, French, Italian, are cultures. "White" is what's left when you strip European migrants of all but the most surface level manifestations of their culture.

I think there is a white American culture because you can't not have a culture any more than you can not have an accent but white American culture like white south african culture is pretty horrible to all the cultures around it

Yeah I agree that there is such a thing as White American culture or white Australian culture or whatever. It's just that they always try to sell it as some sort of overarching global "white" culture that is all the best parts of Rome and Greece and France and so on, when in fact anyone from those cultures would scoff at being lumped in together.

Similarly to how the patriarchy and masculinity harms men (who still benefit from them) by not allowing them to express themselves fully, white supremacy erases all cultural difference or diversity in favor of a single, unified, "culture", even to groups who enjoy its privileges. The fact that regional cultures are erased or commoditized by a uniformizing influence of consumer "culture", and of the domination of a single, unified "white experience", is to be lamented as well, just not as much as the more egregious physical and cultural harm done to PoC.

A culture is a total way of life. It embraces what people ate and what they wore; the way they walked and the way they talked; the manner in which they treated death and greeted the newborn. - Walter Rodney

Made me think of the the manner in which they treated death part

White american culture is conspicuous consumption and vile ingroup-outgroup dynamics, it's terrible and should be annihilated

right, it is the shambling bits of those culture's corpses that have yet to be commodified away into nothing, a fumbling grasp at what little remains

white americans dont have a white identity but they also dont have a european one. i laugh whenever i hear someone say they are part irish when they never even fucking been. white americans truely are a cultureless people, they have no identity, no unity, it has caused immense harm to them and they choose to be like this. they're like the spartans, they showed up to greece, they enslaved the local population, their entire society was centered around war and conflict and fear of the other, and it fucking collapsed when a much greater cultureless power consumed it. i guess you could form a culture around that, but that would make you worship your shitty fucking ancestors who should have died and you in turn shouldn't have been born because they were shit people and you want to turn that into a culture? gtfo.

Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" is a fun exploration of this. All gods who were powerful and revered in the places where they came from, are shells of their former selves, brought over by the people who have migrated here or been forced to come to the US otherwise, but unable to flourish because in the US there is no room for sincere belief and worship, which is what fuels their power. Instead, Media, Technology, and Globalization have become powerful gods on their own, because people will worship at their altar while thinking they worship other gods, or no gods at all.
